Rhino horn smugglers busted
A rhino horn has been recovered and four people arrested in a joint ENV/Hanoi police sting operation.
The sting took place only after more than two months of carefully cultivating a relationship with the seller and building their trust. Finally, we managed to put the seller and his associates together with the rhino at a ‘meet’ in a Hanoi coffee shop.
The police swooped as soon as the rhino horn turned up, allowing our case officer to exit stage left after a stressful but highly successful undercover performance. In the wake of the sting, it has become clear that several fresh leads have been uncovered. Watch this space…
